As laid down under the Haryana Right to Information Rules 2019, a citizen can file an application in the prescribed format addressed to the State Public Information Officer/ State Assistant Public Information Officer of the concerned Department/Public Authority. The application must be accompanied by an application fee of Rs. 10/- and the information seeker should clearly specify the information that he/she wants to obtain. The application can be submitted in person or through post or e-mail. The sought information will be provided to the applicant through the mode stated in the application within the prescribed period after charging an additional fee that is Rs. 2/- per page. The applicant, if not satisfied with the information supplied to him or if the information is supplied beyond the prescribed time period of thirty days or the fees charged is allegedly disproportionate to the information supplied, has the right to file a first appeal before the First Appellate Authority of the Department/Public Authority and in case he/she is still not satisfied, then he/she can file a second appeal before the State Information Commission, Haryana.
